Dual Citizenship

Federal government officials in the White House, the US Senate and the US House of Representatives are all elected by the constituents in their districts to govern and vote according the best interests of that constituency.

They are also called upon to represent the best interests of the United States on matters that affect the entire country.

Over the years, the number of our federally elected representatives who maintain “dual citizenship” in the US and at least one other nation has risen.

It is possible that issues come before these officials where they must choose between what is best for the US, and what is best for their other nation of citizenship.

Do you think that public officials should be US citizens only, in order to prevent any conflict of interest that could arise?
