Ca. Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered homeless encampments to be broken up and removed across California. The directive does not include any alternate living arrangements for the dislocated homeless population.
Some Cities and Counties are pushing back. Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors declared Tuesday that county jails will not be used to house people who were removed from their encampments.
Other Officials have been trying to clear encampments for some time. Brian W. Jones, the State Senate minority leader from San Diego County and others have proposed legislation to clear encampments, but that legislation has gone nowhere in the California Legislature.
Do you agree that the homeless should be moved outside of developed areas, where they are having a negative effect on business, property values, and public safety?
